General Aims of this course: This course aims to teach some of the very basic principles of Transactional Analysis, including the key concepts of TA, before moving on to the Ego State model. The course will cover the Structural Model, teaching WHAT the Ego States are, before moving on to the Functional Model explaining HOW these ego states work. We will explore the behaviour, attitude, key words, voice tone, gestures / postures and expressions of each ego state and then look at how ego states communicate, including brief explanations of transactions, stroking and time structuring. These explanations are given so that you can piece together an understanding of why the ego state model can be applied to certain situations that can help us and our clients. We will then move on to how to use the information you have learned with clients in different contexts including: conflict resolution, communicating with difficult people or people you feel uncomfortable with, and using ego states internally to achieve a goal.
